Why Play For Legacy?
Our focus at Legacy Hoops is to use basketball as an avenue to open the doors for mentorship, growth, and ever lasting relationships. We have a heavy focus on skill development, college exposure/recruiting, relationship building, and most importantly having fun which can be lost in the AAU community today. We think it is important to maintain a level of competitiveness without sacrificing our core values in the process. We play very competitive schedules, which are catered to each specific grade and level of the team.
2026 AAU Girls Tryout Details
Our Legacy Hoops West teams will be based out of our Legacy Hoops Hopkins location. If you prefer, you can sign up for our Legacy Hoops East Tryouts which are based out of our Woodbury location. Our 4th-11th grade teams will have Elite, Gold, and Silver teams. Our Elite teams will be formed from all over, NOT split up by West or East. Please keep in mind, if you make an Elite team at ANY grade level, you will be expected to drive to either location for practices. Gold and Silver teams will be based on location. The amount of teams will depend on the amount of commitments we receive at each grade level.
Tryouts will be $15 for each session you sign up for. Each session will be paid for INDIVIDUALLY. All participants planning to attend tryouts must register ONLINE. You do NOT have to attend all tryouts! Kids can attend as many as possible until they are offered a spot. Please know we will offer spots at EACH tryout session. We will offer spots until all teams are completely filled. We suggest being at the early tryout sessions in order to make the team you desire before spots are filled.
We will ONLY make calls to players who MAKE THE TEAM. If your daughter does not make a team, you will NOT be notified nor will we have calls for performance feedback. If your daughter makes a team you will be notified the day of or the following day by midnight. We will NOT give multiple days to accept a spot. If you do not accept the spot within 24hrs of when the spot was offered, it will be offered to someone else. Once you accept a spot on a team, we will collect a $250 deposit the day of accepting the spot to hold your roster spot and make the spot official, so PLEASE BE READY TO MAKE THE DEPOSIT WHEN YOU COMMIT. YOUR SPOT IS NOT SAVED WITHOUT THE DEPOSIT! All parents will make additional monthly payments to cover total balance before the first tournament.
We ask that each player bring a reversible jersey or shirt with a number on it so we can identify each player. We will start check-ins 20 minutes prior to tryouts so we can start on time. Parents will NOT be allowed to stay in the gym, or lobby, during tryouts

2026 AAU Season Info:
Team Fees
For the 2026 AAU season, fees for grades 3-11 ranged from $500-$1,350, and varied according to the number of roster spots, tournaments, out-of-state tournaments, and other factors. We DO NOT pay for travel expenses for out of state tournaments or AAU cards. Uniforms will be included in the fees and will be collected at the end of the season. In order to secure your roster spot, we will collect a team deposit of $250 once a commitment is made and the remaining fees will be paid BEFORE the FIRST tournament. Half of team fees are due by January 31st. NO EXCEPTIONS! If fees are not paid, roster spots will not be protected, spots can be replaced and athletes will not be able to play. We will offer payment plans to help in any way we can, but you must communicate your financial need upon accepting a roster spot. We will be very firm on this this upcoming season.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO REFUNDS once a commitment is made to accept a roster spot, including the deposit as well as other payments made towards the team fees.
Tournaments
We play a very competitive tournament schedule out of state from grades 6-11. Tournament play will begin in April. We plan to have final schedules set once we have fully evaluated teams in the Fall, but no later than Feb 1st depending on date changes or tournaments. There will be between 6-10 tournaments, which are determined by the age and level of the team. Teams will play locally, regionally and nationally according to age and level of the team. Tournaments can be added as the season progresses per coach and player commitment.
Practices
Practice is the most important part to our program. Not just practice but teaching and DEVELOPMENT. We put a heavy focus on development and making sure kids are getting better and not just playing games.
*Unless communicated with the coach, it is very important that players are committed and consistently attend practices in order to get the proper playing time, etc. This includes those playing other sports. if a player does not practice the week of a tournament, they do NOT play in games on that weekend.
The Spring/Summer AAU season practices will begin in March/early April due to spring breaks and winter season schedules. Each team will practice on average two times per week. Each practice will range from 90-120 minutes unless the team coach schedules differently. Most practices will be held on weeknights, NO WEEKENDS unless coach and team decide on it. Practice locations for our legacy WEST teams will be at the Legacy Hoops Basketball Academy (Hopkins), Hopkins HS/Junior HS, St. Louis Park schools, and possibly other locations in the surrounding area according to how much space is needed. We plan to have the official nights of practice set by early March.
Multi Sport Athletes
We do support multi sport athletes in our program. We understand the importance of kids being well rounded athletes and kids, but we do ask for a balance with both basketball and the other sport. IN ORDER TO PLAY ON A TOP TEAM, YOU MUST HAVE A FULL COMMITMENT TO BASKETBALL! A commitment to basketball is required to play in our program, as we want consistency so each team can be as competitive as possible. All second sport schedules should be given ahead of time so structure the proper plan for practice attendance. There is a requirement to be at practices during the week in order to play in games. Please be sure to accept spots only if you can have a flexible balance and commitment to basketball.
Honest Game
We have a unique partnership with Honest Game, which is a public benefit corporation that empowers schools and student-athletes with a plan that provides guidance on the classes, grades, and test scores they need to meet NCAA academic eligibility status. Honest Game takes our athletes transcript/test scores and translates it into a College Athletic Report on Eligibility (CAREĀ®). CAREĀ® serves as an extra set of eyes, tracks all your academic requirements, and ensures you are taking all the proper courses and counting towards for NCAA eligibility.
