Why Play For Legacy?
Our focus at Legacy Hoops is to use basketball as an avenue to open the doors for mentorship, growth, and building ever lasting relationships. On the court, we have a heavy focus on skill development which is built through our training programs and also our AAU coaching staff. We provide the opportunities for college exposure, we have a strong knowledge on college recruiting, and most importantly having fun which can be lost in the AAU community today. We think it’s important to maintain a level of competitiveness without sacrificing our core values in the process. We play very competitive schedules, which are catered to each specific grade and level of the team.
AAU Girls Elite Tryout Details
Our Legacy Hoops Elite teams will be for grades 4-11. Elite teams will be formed by the top 9-10 players from both tryout locations. Elite teams will NOT be split up by East or West locations. We will offer spots early in the tryout process. Please keep in mind, if you make an Elite team at ANY grade level, you will be expected to drive to either location for practices if required. Those who do not make an elite team, could still be considered for a Gold or Silver teams.

2027 AAU Season Info:
Team Fees
We pride ourselves on having reasonable prices for families. With a competitive travel schedule for Elite teams, we still manage to have some of the better prices in the area. Fees vary according to the number of roster spots, tournaments, out-of-state tournaments, and other factors. We DO NOT pay for travel expenses for out of state tournaments or AAU cards. Uniforms, Shooting Shirts, and other apparel are included in the fees. All team fees will be paid BEFORE the FIRST tournament. Half of team fees are due by January 31st. NO EXCEPTIONS! If fees are not paid, roster spots will not be protected, spots can be replaced at any time, and athletes will not be able to play. We will offer payment plans to help in any way we can, but you must communicate your financial need upon accepting a roster spot. We will be very firm on this.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO REFUNDS once a commitment is made to accept a roster spot, including the deposit as well as other payments made towards the team fees.
Accepting A Spot
For Elite teams, you will have 24hrs to accept the spot or we will look to fill the spot with the next person on the list. AAU tryouts are very competitive and many programs are having them at one time, so our need for commitment is more urgent at this level. To secure your roster spot, we will collect a team deposit of $250 once a verbal commitment is made.
Tournaments
Elite teams will play a very competitive tournament schedule in state and out of state. Tournament play will begin in April. We plan to have final schedules set once we have fully evaluated teams in the Fall, but no later than Feb 1st depending on date changes of tournaments. There will be between 6-10 tournaments for Elite teams, including out of state for grades 4-11. The amount of travel will vary by grade. Teams will play locally, regionally and nationally. Tournaments can be added as the season progresses per coach, player commitment, and parents interest.
Practices
Practice is the most important part of our program. Not just practice but teaching and DEVELOPMENT. We put a heavy focus on development even at the Elite level. Practices will begin late March/early April due to spring breaks and winter season schedules but Elite teams will have open gym workout in early/mid March. Each team will practice on average two times per week, unless coaches add more. Elite teams practice will range from 90-120 minutes and on weeknights. NO WEEKENDS unless the coach and team decide on it. Elite practices could be at our Legacy Hoops Basketball Academy in Woodbury and/or our Legacy Hoops Basketball Academy in Eden Prairie. We plan to have the official nights of practice set by early March at the latest.
*Unless communicated with the coach, it is very important that players are committed and consistently attend practices in order to get the proper playing time, etc. This includes those playing other sports. If a player does not practice the week of a tournament, they do NOT play in games on that weekend.
Multi Sport Athletes
We do support multi-sport athletes in our program. We understand the importance of kids being well rounded athletes and kids. IN ORDER TO PLAY ON AN “ELITE” TEAM, YOU MUST HAVE A FULL COMMITMENT TO BASKETBALL! In order for our top teams to compete at the highest level, a full commitment to basketball is required, as we want as much consistency as possible. All second sport schedules should be given before the season begins so structure the proper plan for practice attendance. There is a requirement to be at practices during the week in order to play in games. Please be sure to accept spots only if you can have a commitment to basketball. If not, we do have Gold teams that can be fitting as well.
